What a wild week we had! We spent the week practicing some old skills and learning some brand-new ones. At first aid, learned how to make a sling out of our t-shirt, and made our very own first aid kits. We made casts of animal tracks and learned about animal scat. Some of us got to light our very 1st match, and some got to learn how to build a whole campfire. There was knife safety, shelter building, archery, and slingshots. We made some yummy s'mores and tried our hand at outdoor cooking. We learned some fun nature facts, sang a ton of Girl Scout songs, made new friends, and woke up the valley every morning with our echos at flag. What a WILD week we had!

After your camper has finished making their fuzzy bee, please share some pictures with us. You can email them here to us at [email protected]. Thanks! Dot. The in person part of Sky River Day Camp 2021 is done and in the books, but there's still so much more fun to be had. I honestly don't know who had more fun today, the campers or our amazing volunteers.
Yesterday, each of your campers came home with a backpack full of supplies. Inside you'll find 3 ziplock bags with all the supplies needed to make the LIA craft projects. The projects are Lil Bee and flower, fuzzy bee and a flower planting project. You'll also find a brown paper bag with goodies from the Snohomish Bee Company, who came out to camp and taught our campers all about honey bees. The paper bag has a bee's wax sheet, a wick, and instructions to make a candle, some honey sticks and also some wildflower seeds campers can plant. Tweezers sent home all the supplies needed to make a Mason bee house. We also included your campers camp shirt and taped their camp patch to their name tag on the outside of the bag. Some projects will need additional supplies, like glue scissors and a marker. Over the next course of the next week, we'll be uploading some videos to our brand-new YouTube channel. Some videos will be instructions on how to do the crafts, and some will be songs and games. We hope you and your campers will continue their camp experience at home by wearing their camp shirt, watching the videos, completing their craft projects, and we would love to see pictures of them doing all those things. If you would like to share pictures, you can send them here to [email protected], with "camp pictures" in the subject line. Thanks! Dot. Hello Busy Bees! I have some updates regarding camp.
Registration has been open for about a month now, and unfortunately it's been much slower than we were anticipating. Sadly because of low registration numbers we can no longer offer a Tuesday session. In order to for us to make camp happen we will need at least 50 campers to join us this year. As of today we've received just over 20 registrations. If you've already submitted your registration, thank you! You're the bees knees! Help us make camp happen by telling all your friends about sky river day camp! In other news BEE aware that prices for registration will be going up to $45 on June 1st and registration will be closing on June 12th so if you were planning on sending your camper this year make sure to do that ASAP. Hopefully we see your wonderful faces at camp this year! Until then BEE positive and have a wonderful day. Thanks! Dot. LIA's will have two 3-hour trainings on the evenings of Monday, June 7th and Monday, June 21st. PAIT's will attend one 3-hour training on the evening of Monday, June 7th and PA's will attend one 3-hour training on the evening of Monday, June 21st. Thanks! Dot. I'm so excited to finally be able to share our plan for camp 2021 with you all. Our camp theme for this year is Bee yourself
While we really just want to all bee back at camp for a full week of fun it's just not feasible right now to offer a full time in person camp. Our plan for this year is a hybrid of sorts. We're offering 2 half day sessions on July 12th and 13th at camp, and we'll also bee providing some take-home materials and some online content(not zoom) so that campers can continue the fun at home. We plan to pack as much into those half day sessions as possible we'll have science with Tweezers, and archery with Frog, games, crafts, donkeys and more. To stay in compliance with GSWW's COVID-19 rules, space for campers will be very limited this year. When registration opens, hopefully in mid-April, you'll choose either to attend the Monday, July 12th session or the Tuesday, July 13th session. If you are able to volunteer this year you'll volunteer on whatever day your campers attend. When registration opens in mid-April you'll choose either to attend the Monday, July 12th session or Tuesday, July 13th session. The cost for camp is $30 for campers, PA's and LIA's. That price includes a t-shirt, patch and other goodies. If you paid for camp for the 2020 year and requested to roll over your payment to camp for this year you have a few options. We can apply your money to camp for this year and either have the remaining balance refunded OR you can choose to donate the remaining balance to Sky River Day Camp. Money donated will be put into a scholarship type fund for campers who may not be able to afford to attend Sky River Day Camp and who may not be able to receive financial assistance. If you have questions I'll bee here to answer them just email [email protected] Thanks! Dot. Greetings Sky River Day Camp families,
You're receiving this email because you have registered to attend Sky River Day Camp. If you haven't heard, GSWW has canceled all in person activities until August and that includes Sky River Day Camp. We are currently moving ahead with our planning for camp next year, so we will be back bigger and better than ever! Some of you have reached out with questions regarding refunds or the option to donate your payment and I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. I also want to thank so much for your patience, it is greatly appreciated. We are in uncharted territory here and my team and I wanted to make sure we had as much information as possible before we took any action. Moving forward you've got some choices to make. Please read the following portion of the email carefully and respond to this email and let me know which option you would prefer. Option 1. If you've paid for camp and would like a refund please let us know. Refunds will be credited back to the account you made the payment from LESS FEES. Stripe, our payment processor, submits refund requests to your bank or card issuer immediately. You will see the refund as a credit approximately 5-10 business days later, depending upon the bank. Once issued, a refund cannot be canceled. Option 2. If you've paid for camp and would like us to hold your payment as a credit for next year, please let us know. We will issue you a voucher via email showing you're paid in full for Sky River Day Camp 2021. If we hold your payment, you will still have to submit a new online registration next year, however you will get early access to registration. If you choose to have us hold your payment but do not complete the online registration by March 5th we will issue a refund to you for the amount you've paid LESS FEES. Option 3. If you would like to make an in-kind donation to us of either all or part of your payment, let us know. We have had some expenses this year and will continue to have operating expenses moving forward with planning for next year and any donation would help with those. In kind donations are NOT tax-deductible. If we don't hear from you by May 21st, we will hold your money as payment toward camp 2021 and email you a voucher. If you registered for camp this year but have not paid you'll have to submit a new registration next year. If you have any questions please let us know. You can email [email protected] or call or text Michelle(Dot.) (425)870-7299 Thanks! Dot. Dear Sky River Day Camp volunteers, campers and families
It's with an extremely heavy heart that I write this email tonight. Today we were blindsided with the news that due to the COVID-19 pandemic GSWW was canceling all summer camp programs including ours. This is an excerpt from an email I received this afternoon from Megan Ferland We’ve made the excruciatingly difficult decision to cancel all camp programs for the 2020 season. Why?
While I understand this is the best decision for all of our heath and safety my heart breaks for our amazing volunteers and campers who live for camp and can not fathom what a summer without camp even looks like. We might be down for 2020, but we are by no mean out we will come back in 2021 better than ever. For now, take care and stay healthy. Dot. The team and I are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. Our campers and volunteers health and safety is our top priority. We are optimistic that by July the social distancing orders will be lifted, and we will be able to carry on with our camp as usual. With all the worry and uncertainty in the world right now I hope that camp can be a small bright spot at the end of the tunnel for all of us. The Sky River Day Camp team and I are working hard behind the scenes to make camp happen this year. We've got so many fun activities, games and songs that we can't wait to share with all of you. I can't wait to see you all at camp this year, until then, stay healthy.
