We had such an amazing time at camp this week exploring the wild frontier! We aren't sure who had more fun the leaders or the girls. We can not wait for camp next year. Mark your calendars for July 17th 2017 registration starts in February next year. Check back here often for information and updates.
We had such a great day today! The amazing ladies of unit A did our opening flag ceremony. The pony express galloped all over camp delivering mail to campers and staff. It's so much fun to send mail to and receive mail from other units in camp! Today Sky River Day Camp hosted our very first all camp "county fair". The county fair featured events like "bull" lassoing, watermelon seed spitting, boondoggling, and feed bag snacks for all the hungry cow pokes. We wrapped up the fair with an all camp picnic under the apple trees where we all got a chance to sample chuck wagon chili, beans and corn bread. Our brave boys unit did our closing flag ceremony today. This morning looked gray and overcast when we arrived at camp but before we knew it the clouds burned off and the sun was shining. Tomorrow is supposed to be hot and sunny again so please put on your sun screen before you come to camp. Make sure you bring extra sun screen along with you so you can re-apply it in the afternoon. Just a reminder to parents campers apply their own sunscreen not unit leaders. Tomorrow is our sixth grade and above camp overnight. This is a special treat for the 6th graders, LIA's and PA's. If you are the parents of a sixth grader, LIA or PA and your daughter is planning on staying overnight at camp we must have a permission slip from you. If your sixth-grader LIA or PA is planning to spend the night and you have not already turned in the permission slip please download it and send to camp tomorrow morning.
Camp started today with opening flag done by unit C. There were stick horse races, music with Chipper, fire building with Jasper, we made rag dolls and handkerchief dolls with Dot and more yummy snow candy with Tweezers and Rabbit. Unit B helped us close out our day by leading our closing flag ceremony. We ran, and sang and played all day and we are just plum tuckered out but we're super excited for tomorrow! The whole camp is gearing up for our SRDC county fair. There will be a stick horse rodeo, face painting, bubbles and much much more. The gates open tomorrow bright and early at 9:15 am for drop off. Lords Hill Park is right down the street from our camp so if you're finding yourself arriving to camp before the gates open the park is a safer place to park and wait then the side of the road. Yee-ha, another great day on the wild frontier! We did too many fun things to name them all but here are just a few. The exceptional unit E did our opening flag for us, some of us made real snow candy with Tweezers, and others cooked some vittles with Pineapple, we learned some pioneer lingo, and discovered some of our camp outposts. All the units had a chance to visit Dot and make their very own stick horses, now we can play ride my pony with actual ponies! We closed out our day with songs at the flag circle lead by our amazing PA's and then we had closing flag done by the delightful unit D. Remember for tomorrow that gates open at 9:15 for drop off, please do not arrive early. Old Snohomish Monroe road can get very busy please be cautious! Be courteous to other drivers and the many bicyclists on the road and do not block the road if you do happen to arrive a few minutes early. Once we do open the gate there's no need to rush, the speed limit at camp is 5mph. For the safety of your campers and our volunteers we kindly ask that you put down your phone until your car is parked. Tomorrow, Pineapple will be cooking with units B,C, E, and LIA's. Unit B is cooking S'mores. Unit C will make fairy rings. Unit E is making monkey bread with cinnamon and sugar. LIA's get to try their hand at pie iron pies. See ya'll tomorrow! Howdy partners! We started our day with a flag ceremony led by our lovely LIA unit. We learned the laws of the land and explored the day camp frontier. We sang songs, made stick horses, and candles, learned some knots with Ooke, learned about fires and some units even struck it rich. The fabulous ladies in unit F did our closing flag ceremony today. We have so many more adventures planned for tomorrow we're going to have another amazing day! Please remember that tomorrow our gates will open for camper drop off up at 9:15 and camp starts at 9:30. Remember to wear your camp shirt everyday! Make sure you eat a BIG breakfast, it's hard work exploring the wild frontier and campers get extra hungry at camp. Packing a big lunch is a great idea too. Even though it was overcast this morning the sun came out and really warmed us up so we drank A LOT of water! Don't forget to come with 2 full water bottles. Just a reminder some of our units will be cooking tomorrow, this is a snack not a full lunch. Unit A will be making S'mores Unit D is making Monkey bread with cinnamon and sugar Unit F is making pancakes. Our gates open for pick up tomorrow at 3:45. We can't wait to see you all again tomorrow! |
