Dot. You heard it folks we are just days away from the official start of our 2020 camp year. Registration will go live February 1st.
Last year, 90% of our registrations were completed online, and we will be using that same system again this year but it will look slightly different. We've broken the online process down into FOUR steps with STEP ONE being the registration form itself where you tell us your campers name, grade, school, t-shirt size ect. STEP TWO is the health from, we'll need one of these from every participant. STEP THREE is the get to know my camper form, only parents of campers grades 1-6th, boys, and pixies will need to fill these out. We offer a boys unit and a pixie unit for children of our full time volunteers only. STEP FOUR is the camper release for check out form and again, we only need these filled out for campers grades 1-6th, boys and pixies. If you have questions about the new registration process or if you would like to request a printable mail in registration please email [email protected] with REGISTRATION QUESTION in the subject line. Dot. It's been just a few months since camp ended, things are neatly packed away and everything is nicely wrapped up from 2019 or so I thought... Imagine my shock when I log in and start updating our website and find that the last blog post from 2019 was never published. Weebly, as it turns out has two options when writing a blog post, save and post. Strangely when you click on save the post is saved but not published. So as I said, camp gets a little crazy sometimes. Sometimes you write and post a blog and sometimes you just write one. I've finally published that last entry along with our all camp picture. I believe that finally wraps up camp for 2019, better late then never...right? Right now we are working hard on camp 2020 stay tuned for more details. Registration opens February 1st.
Thanks! Dot. You heard it folks, we survived Sky River Day Camp. We spent the week learning and testing all our survival skills and proudly we all survived. We learned how to build fires and tie knots, we learned how to find our way with a compass, we now know the 10 essential items that we need when going hiking, we learned some new outdoor cooking methods, and learned about filtering water and how to signal for help with a signal mirror.
We had another great day at camp today. We were so busy with fun, songs, games, and best of all friends. We may have started the day with raindrops but we ended it with sunshine and smiles. We took our call camp picture that will be coming home with your campers tomorrow so be on the look out. Some of us petted and fed our resident mini donkeys, some played dress up and some of us learned about signaling for help if we are ever lost in the wilderness and also filtering water to make it drinkable. I can't believe that tomorrow is already our last day of camp, the week has flown by. I can't wait to see if we survive Friday. Check out just a few of the pictures we captured today. Thanks! Dot. It was a windy, wet and wacky and wonderful Wednesday. Units D, E, F and our boys unit got to try their hands at archery and fires. We discovered it takes teamwork to successfully light a fire when it's windy. We got to try some tasty soups made with vegetables that could be foraged in the wild including amaranth during our traveling all camp lunch. There was box stacking, and s'mores in a bag and so many more fun things that I can't possibly list them all. More exciting things are coming tomorrow as we try to survive Sky River Day Camp but in the meantime check out some pictures from today. Dot. In case you were wondering...we are alive and surviving at camp. My computer was updating last night and SUPER slow so I was unable to get our blog to open or any pictures uploaded. I'll have to make up for it with extra pictures on Wednesday. We've had a busy two days at camp already. Some of us have learned about the 10 essentials, some have had first aid, cooking and even used sling shots to shoot paint balls. We've got so many more fun activities planned for tomorrow I can't wait to get started. Here are just a few pictures for now there will be more tomorrow. Dot. With just 2 days left before registration officially closes our 4th grade and LIA units are full. LIA registration is not available at this time. If you have a 4th grade camper they will be placed on our wait list.
While we hate to turn any campers away sometimes we have to do just that. The number of campers that can attend camp is totally dependent on the number of volunteers that we have. If you are interested in volunteering email [email protected] Dot. Can you believe camp is only a month and a half away? We have so many fun and exciting things planned for camp this year you definitely don't want to miss out! It's not too late, you still have time to register but don't delay registration is only open until June 1st.
We still have a few spots open in our 1st-6th grade units as well as spots in our PA/PAIT program. We also have a few spots available for adult volunteers. The more volunteers we have the more campers we can accept into our program. Don't forget that children of full time volunteers, at least 5 days, get discount registration for their campers. Online registration is the quickest and easiest way to get registered. You can find the link for online registration on the registration tab of this site. If you have submitted a camper grades 1-6 registration ONLINE you should have gotten a confirmation email along with links for our "get to know my camper" form AND the very important "camper check out" form this past weekend. PA/PAIT and LIA's who registered ONLINE should have gotten a email with a link for the PA/PAIT or LIA survey form. Please make sure you click the link and fill out the forms and get them submitted ASAP. We need those forms filled out before your camper can attend camp. If you registered ONLINE and did not get an email please drop us a line at [email protected] and let us know. Unit placement details and more information will be sent out after registration closes.
