Dear Sky River Day Camp volunteers, campers and families
It's with an extremely heavy heart that I write this email tonight. Today we were blindsided with the news that due to the COVID-19 pandemic GSWW was canceling all summer camp programs including ours. This is an excerpt from an email I received this afternoon from Megan Ferland We’ve made the excruciatingly difficult decision to cancel all camp programs for the 2020 season. Why?
While I understand this is the best decision for all of our heath and safety my heart breaks for our amazing volunteers and campers who live for camp and can not fathom what a summer without camp even looks like. We might be down for 2020, but we are by no mean out we will come back in 2021 better than ever. For now, take care and stay healthy. Dot. The team and I are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. Our campers and volunteers health and safety is our top priority. We are optimistic that by July the social distancing orders will be lifted, and we will be able to carry on with our camp as usual. With all the worry and uncertainty in the world right now I hope that camp can be a small bright spot at the end of the tunnel for all of us. The Sky River Day Camp team and I are working hard behind the scenes to make camp happen this year. We've got so many fun activities, games and songs that we can't wait to share with all of you. I can't wait to see you all at camp this year, until then, stay healthy.
